I’m told I’m funny.
My typical response is something like “Yeah, looks aren’t everything” when I’m told this, but actually one of my favorite things about myself is that I can make people laugh.
I’m a recovering Type A personality. I now call myself a Type A- on a bad day and a Type B+ on a good day. I used to spend the majority of my time worrying about my career and other adult-type responsibilities – I probably wasn’t much fun at parties, when I went to them. Over the past few years, the ability to make someone laugh, lend a person a hand, or further a relationship have become more and more important to me.
Life is too short to spend all your energy worrying about most of the things we end up worrying about. Much better to do the very best you can, and laugh out loud until tears come to your eyes as often as you can. Hell, I did that at three times today just over lunch with friends, and I can only remember what was said that was worth laughing at one of those times. Doesn’t really matter though…because in the middle of a workday, there isn’t much better than throwing back your head and laughing like an eight-year-old.
Try it tomorrow. I know I will.
